DIY Chanel Espadrilles + Tutorial

<a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2013/04/diy-chanel-espadrilles-tutorial.html#more"><img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-1_zps1b4cb351.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-1_zps1b4cb351.jpg" /></a> below image (Chanel Espadrilles) by <a href="http://www.roseandreese.com/chanel-fabric-espadrilles/">RoseandReese</a> It has been a while since my last DIY (the <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2012/12/diy-baroque-tights-tutorial.html">Baroque tights</a>) and this weekend I finally had a bit of time for another fun project that had been on my mind! For this DIY I combined two Chanel obsessions of mine; the black tipped Espadrilles and the Chanel Spring 2013 white on white Pearl trend! Luckily and much unlike the tights this DIY is very easy and takes less then 2 hours to make! Check out <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2013/04/diy-chanel-espadrilles-tutorial.html#more">the tutorial here</a>! xoxo <a name="more"></a> <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2013/04/diy-chanel-espadrilles-tutorial.html#more"><img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-2_zpsa5da68b1.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-2_zpsa5da68b1.jpg" /></a> 1) What you need 1) Espadrilles ( Use all white canvas or even lace ) 2) Pearls (or other beads) in at least 2 different sizes 3) Silver colored Filigree caps in similar sizes to the pearls 4) Scotch Tape 5) Pattex contact Glue 6) Black Pastel pencil or crayon 7) Hair Spray 8) A few sheets of paper <img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-3_zps45dbf0c8.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-3_zps45dbf0c8.jpg" /><img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-4_zpsc2e66576.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-4_zpsc2e66576.jpg" /> 2) Tape and Color the Tip We will start off by coloring the tip of the shoes black! I used a simple black pastel pencil by lack of a crayon. I used Pastel since I love the softness and the fact that it doesn't need to dry! Measure on the Espadrilles where you would like the black tip to end and use Scotch Tape to make sure you have a nice border. Press the scotch tape firmly on the canvas and start coloring (or dyeing) the canvas. After coloring you can remove the tape. <img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-5_zps53120cc7.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-5_zps53120cc7.jpg" /> 3) Fixate When using a Pastel pencil or a crayon it's important you fixate otherwise the black color will wear off and stain other items! I fixated using regular Hair Spray and I used a few sheets of paper to protect the rest of the shoe.  <img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-6_zps07dc6fd9.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-6_zps07dc6fd9.jpg" /> 4) Glueing the Filigree caps and Pearls While letting the Hair Spray dry you can start prepping the pearls! Simply glue the pearls inside the Filigree caps. I sometimes dab a bit of glue directly on the pearl and sometimes dab a bit of glue inside the cap, either way works fine as long as you press the pearl firmly for a few seconds to the cap for a good hold. I used Pattex contact glue! In between you can check if the Pastel is fixated, it shouldn't give off black anymore! If it still does you can give it another round of Hair Spray! And last but not least the finishing touch! Double check if the hair spray/espadrilles are dry! You can now start glueing the pearls on the shoes! Make sure you press and hold the pearls (now inside the filigree caps) firmly for a few seconds!  <img alt=" photo cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-7_zpsd8c36146.jpg" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/newwwwwwy/DIY/cocorosa-diychanelespadrilles-7_zpsd8c36146.jpg" /> 5) Finito! DIY Baroque Tights Tutorial

The <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2012/12/diy-baroque-tights-tutorial.html#more" style="color: #3d85c6;">Tutorial</a> for the DIY Baroque Tights!  Hope you like it! xoxo You can totally apply this DIY to other items as well! <a name="more"></a> 1) What You Need 1) Tights, I used H&M tights of about 60 denier! 2) Needle, Thread (metallic Thread, Gold or gold colored is preferred), pins, scissors, scotch tape 3) Baroque (cornelli) Motifs, these are mostly Iron-On's although sewing is better for a more beautiful look. I used 2 kinds of Cornelli Motifs from Barnett Lawson Trimmings in London, both Gold colored, online <a href="http://www.bltrimmings.com/trimmings/Cornelli-Motif-3222.asp" style="color: #3d85c6;">here</a> and <a href="http://www.bltrimmings.com/trimmings/Cornelli-Motif-3224.asp" style="color: #3d85c6;">here</a>. * If preferred, instead of sewing you would need an Iron or Glue (Pattex Glue or Fabric Glue only when making the Motifs yourself since the Cornelli Motifs are Iron On and thus the glue side is platic-like instead of fabric!) You can make Motifs yourself by Spray Painting (gold) felt fabric. <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-1.jpg" /> 2) Placement Practice Before we even begin it's very important you understand how the Baroque Motifs and Prints work!  Look closely at my <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.nl/2012/11/diy-baroque-tights_30.html" style="color: #3d85c6;">finished tights</a> and to the D&G collection and you will see the placement is symmetric, kind of mirror reflecting! <a href="http://www.bltrimmings.com/motifs/Cornelli/" style="color: #3d85c6;">The Cornelli Trimmings</a> I bought (seen below) at Barnett Lawson come in a set so if you decide to make your own trimmings make sure you have a left and right version as well! <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-2.jpg" /> Now start playing a bit with all the possible Motifs/Prints you can make to get a good feel of the trend and don't be afraid to look at existing prints! Make sure you work in a symmetrical way, always mirror reflecting the left and right side! <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-3.jpg" /> <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-4.jpg" /> 3) Wear the Tights Ready with the Practice? Wear the tights or if you prefer this DIY on a Tee or Skirt, wear those items so we can have a look of where exactly we want to place the Motifs! <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-5.jpg" /> 4) Placement Stay very close to a mirror so you can see what you do! Place the Motifs on the tights how you like it, play a bit with the placements you have practiced and work symmetrical! <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-6.jpg" /> 5) Pinning Loosely Pin the Motifs the way you like it! I worked on 1 leg first ( my Right Leg) since I will mirror reflect the Motifs later on on the other leg! Keep looking in the mirror to make sure everything looks good and change things while you still can! I like to do this while I wear the tights since its the best way to see how the outcome will be! I guess with T-Shirts or Skirts you can work on the items while not wearing them. <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-7.jpg" /> 6) Attaching the Motifs Although the Motifs are Iron On I really prefer sewing for a more beautiful look but it's really up to you what you want to do! I think Ironing will be as painstaking as sewing and glueing will prob be a hazard too since you would have to be careful not glue the front and back legs to one another ;) I worked on 1 leg, my right leg, completely finishing one leg first before I reflect the same on the other leg! <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-8.jpg" /> <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/laatste/cocorosadiy-baroquetights-tutorial-9.jpg" />   7) Repeat the Process on the other Leg! All done with one leg? and still alive? TUTORIAL: DIY flower heels

These hair-clips are perfect and easy to clip-on to about everything and non-permanent! (for a permanent effect disregard the clips but keep the felt and glue on the flowers) I also used regular shoe laces. (I used shoes that are half a size too big) </div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">for a permanent use: If you look closely you can see that the clip/pin loops through to a little piece of felt that's glued on to the flower! (the clip itself does not necessarily need to be glued) With this in mind you can easily make your own flower hair pins or create your own flower embellishments by glueing the finished flower on a little piece of felt to make it ready for use! </div> <img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/new/diy-flowerheels-tutorial-2.jpg" /> <div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">1) Select the flowers/hairpins you want to use </div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">2) Clip them on where you would like to see them</div><div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">3) Make sure the pins don't hurt when wearing them! DIY miu miu tights TUTORIAL

<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-13.jpg" /> </div> Here it is the Tutorial to the Miu Miu embellished tights I'm wearing <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.com/2010/03/diy-miu-miu-embellished-tights.html" style="font-family: verdana;">HERE</a> What you will need for this tutorial; Computer/Printer/Copy Machine Transfer Iron-on sheets Iron Fabric, a meter/yard or half a meter/yard of cotton or in my case a blush/soft pink silk sateen Scissors Tights, sheer nude Sew-on Jewels Needle and Thread <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-3.jpg" /> </div> As for the stones, I used tear shaped (plastic) Crystals, round glass Crystals beads and two sizes of acrylic sew-on jewels. You can find the jewels in most (online) hobby, art and craft stores, if you find a link to the tear shaped crystals you can maybe leave the link in the comments for others to see... <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-2.jpg" /> </div> You will need to print the Swallows on Transfer Iron-on Paper, You can find and download my high res Swallow Print <a href="http://s600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/?action=view&current=swallows.jpg" style="font-family: verdana;">HERE</a> Best way to print THE SWALLOWS<a href="http://s600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/?action=view&current=swallows.jpg" style="font-family: verdana;"></a> would be of course to do it professionally, but "iron-on transfer sheets" for fabrics are a cool alternative, another alternative can be to draw your own swallows on the fabric directly, There are a lot of brands and different sheets for different printers and color of fabric, you will find instructions on how to use it included in the package. here you can find some HP transfer papers to get an idea (I actually use a very cheap unknown brand) <a href="http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?aoid=20575&product_code=C6049A&jumpid=ex_r329_suresupply/inkme/autoreorder_supplies&aoid=20575&jumpid=ex_r329_suresupply/inkme/autoreorder_supplies&aoid=5505" style="font-family: verdana;">HP transfer papers</a> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-4.jpg" /> </div> Follow the instructions (as much as possible) you got with your Transfer Paper and Iron on the Swallows. It will prob come down to the same; the sheets are for cotton fabrics since the print is only transferred with heat, I ironed them on silk fabric anyway causing some birds to burn but most came out okay. I Ironed the birds on the matte side of the silk sateen and went for a light pink/blush fabric color, light blue would be amazing too. The sheets will (almost) always give you a plastic-y stiff layer which I liked because it made my birds more solid and steady to sew on. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-7.jpg" /> </div> Cut the Birds out of your sheets, leaving some space around them and try to make as much as rounded edges as possible, you can cut all around the birds too, making it truly hellish to sew them on plus the look is somehow less attractive.. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-5.jpg" /> </div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-8.jpg" /> </div> After cutting out the Swallows you are ready to start to sew them on the tights, I always wear the tights while sewing them on, you can use whatever stitch you want, when placing the birds try to use them in different angles/ rotate the swallows to find the best look and play with it, you can lay them out on a paper first to see and test placement if you want to practice a bit first. My golden rule about placement would be; Place them Irregular, never work with placing them horizontal or vertical under or next to each other but work in a Vertical line between the birds if you must, spy for placement <a href="http://mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.com/2010/03/diy-miu-miu-embellished-tights.html" style="font-family: verdana;">HERE</a> if you look closely you can see the vertical lines of placement. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-9.jpg" /> </div> I always first place all the birds before I start to sew on the jewels, and the tights look amazing without the jewels too so you might decide to skip the Crystals. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-10.jpg" /> </div> I placed the Jewels in little clusters and made sure they were absolutely solid attached. <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-11.jpg" /> </div> <div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/cocorosa_photo/tutorial-14.jpg" /> </div> e voila :) Hope you like it :) <div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/en/blog/640862/cocorosa" title="cocorosa on bloglovin"><img alt="Follow cocorosa" src="http://www.bloglovin.com/widget/bilder/en/widget.gif" /></a></div>
